Faith Formation of Children
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is rooted in the Sacred Scriptures and inspired by the principles of the innovative educator Maria Montessori.
Maria Montessori believed that children have a deep capacity for relationship with God and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd offers a peaceful and thoroughly prepared environment where children can explore the mysteries of faith at their own pace.
St. Theresa Church gathers children between the pre-Kindergarten age up to and including the Grade 1 age. This constitutes Level I Catechesis of the Good Shepherd programming. Children between the Grade 2 age up to and including the Grade 4 age are also gathered seperately. This constitutes Level II Catechesis of the Good Shepherd programming.
Finding God
For children between the Grade 5 age up to and including the Grade 8 age St. Theresa Church offers a more traditional classroom style format of instruction using the Finding God resource out of Loyola Press.
Embracing the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola the Finding God programming guides children to engage with Scripture as well as well heighten their practice of prayer as well as equip them to find God in all things.
